Derek Lowe Rejects Mets Offer

Published by thetradersarena at 10:27 pm under MLB Talks Edit This

Derek Lowe has rejected the Mets 3 year, 36 million dollar offer. Lowe says he is looking for a 16 million dollar per year offer. It seems that that is a bit more than the Mets would like to offer. Jon Heyman reported this tonight on the new MLB Network. Heyman said that the Red Sox, Phillies, and Braves are likely to be the competition for the starter. He also notes that there is a mystery team involved as well, Scott Boras’ favorite ploy to up the ante. Can this team be the Yankees? I doubt it, but you never know, talks are that it may be the Brewers. Minaya stated that he is still interested in Lowe, Randy Wolf, and others. However, he did not mention Oliver Perez by name in that list, so he may be asking for too much for the Mets liking.
