Manny Rejects Dodgers, Alternatives?
Manny Ramirez has turned down the 1 year, 25 million dollar offer. The Dodgers remain interested, although they possibly have a better course of action. They may rather bulk up than spend it all in one place. They could for 25 million, easily sign all 3 of the group: Adam Dunn, Orlando Hudson, and Randy Wolf. This would build their depth in the rotation, grap a comparable hitter to Manny (Dunn is no Manny but puts up same power #) and Hudson allows them flexibility.
The White Sox have offered Bobby Abreu a 1 year deal worth 8 million dollars. They have said however, in order for them to do this deal, they will need to trade someone, likely Jermaine Dye. I don’t see a team wanting Dye with a rich corner outfield market out there where guys can be had for under 10 MM and Dye is making 13 MM and isn’t much better, if better at all, than the guys on the market.
